russian artist, asaria marka, creates gorgeous lifelike images with a pencil <click for larger>

the realism is so captivating and inspiring – i’ve always felt that pencils deserve more artistic acclaim than they receive.  charcoal is messy + inexact.  i <3 graphite!

came across her work on unstage; see more there or on marka’s deviantART

it’s no secret that i love paper <prismPOP> – but it may be a surprise to you that i hoard wrapping paper under my bed <i know they say your bed should have air under it, i know i know>  i have so much wrapping paper because i love personalizing gifts – frequently adding playful tchotchkes to the bow <mini sharpies, bells, candy, etc.> so here are just a few of my favoritest sheets from nineteem seventy three + vigo

peecol + cars by eboy

doodle + monster doodle by jon burgerman

animals + crowd by andy smith

birds/clouds by sukie, geometric prints by lotta sheet wrap

owl, red apple, bunnies, hiawatha, pirate, russian doll, robots, plant, flower all by the good life

in addition to my jo(e)(seph)s i’ve been drawing more people + pets

now i really ought to update my etsy site

did you forget valentine’s day? shmuck.  it’s not too late – act fast: there are only five of these beautiful rafa jenn ‘all you need’ prints left

and just four ‘one million pixels’

and then those that got away <boo hoo>  ‘you know who’:

and ‘you were are here’

remember last february, when i participated in thing-a-day by making an alphabet?  i’m looking forward to doing it again this year – with new subject matter and medium.  swap ink pen for wacom wand and font for faces; each day i’ll draw someone famous or not and post them at myconey.posterous.com – if you want me to draw you, send a photo to info@prismpop.com or leave a suggestion in the comments.  i’m not going to give it too much attention or detail but i’m excited to see what takes shape.  i’ll post favorites to this blog in march.

also – it’s not too late, go sign up yourself + join the creative spurt!

more of the blake wright on his blog – lots of penis sketches, you should know.  lots of funny too.

working on new products for prismPOP + sketched up these fonts while brainstorming.  i think using it as-is feels unnecessarily busy.  which letters do you like the most? big-thanks <3
