voila! my top 9 picks of 27 joes (remember? here’s the list + these are the joes + sorry tribbiani, i burnt out) it was a fun challenge to limit the time spent on each and to come up with an individualized representation of the joe while keeping with a greater theme.  keep an eye out on my shop where i have non-joes and customized canvases for sale.  would really love to know if you have a favorite joe – sometimes i become too attached to a particular image for no real reason.  it’s always interesting to hear feedback!  <3 thanks

in addition to my jo(e)(seph)s i’ve been drawing more people + pets

now i really ought to update my etsy site

for my joe o’ the day i chose a coney tuesday friendly joe, 68 dogs in 12 minutes: the champ

JOEY JAWS CHESTNUT

joey is ranked as the number one competitive eater in the WORLD by the international federation of competitive eating – some accomplishment.  generally, i despise disrespecting food <cough adam richman man vs. food> in abundance, but somehow the hot dog eating contest has always amused me . . . exceptions are allowed, right?  chestnut trains by fasting and stretching his stomach with gallons of milk, water and protein supplements – ick.

i know that on monday, i said i’d be drawing anyone, but i decided instead to draw joe.
jo/joey/johanna/joseph/joanne – why not.  please check in at posterous for your daily cup of joe -or- explore thing-a-day, the reason i’m doing this

remember last february, when i participated in thing-a-day by making an alphabet?  i’m looking forward to doing it again this year – with new subject matter and medium.  swap ink pen for wacom wand and font for faces; each day i’ll draw someone famous or not and post them at myconey.posterous.com – if you want me to draw you, send a photo to info@prismpop.com or leave a suggestion in the comments.  i’m not going to give it too much attention or detail but i’m excited to see what takes shape.  i’ll post favorites to this blog in march.

also – it’s not too late, go sign up yourself + join the creative spurt!

way back when – i participated in thing-a-daygoal: one letter each day plus ampersand & an exclamation point! i fell just 2 shy of my intentions + here is what I managed to accomplish:

a to z

see them close-up on flickr. this project was a fun little exercise in spending at least 20 min away from a monitor a day.  which letter do you find most successful?  V is my fav.

as previously mentioned, i am participating in thing-a-day 2009 [where each participant uploads their creation du jour]  i have used this project to put ink to paper + ensure i spend at least 30 min away from the computer each day.  other artists have featured their photography, recipes, knitting, jewelry etc. etc. etc.

one fellow entrant, calvin wong, made a gift for his lovee: drawings of early courting text messages.  i especially love this because i change my phone with frequency + long for those sentimental exchanges that will forever reside on a sim card or elsewhere in cyber-galaxy

be mine? sure.

also, he’s hosting these images on posterous.com why have i never heard of this? brilliant.

B is for Blurry

i think i over did it.  going forward, i’ll not post these every day but at the end i’ll show you my alphabet.

A

letter A

i have a thing for fonts.

it’s black history month
it’s national embroidery month
it’s february!

as alluded to, i am participating in thing-a-day 2009. you still have time! i encourage you to involve yourself, if not officially, unofficially.  just one hour a day on creativity – c’est tout – make something.

at the end of each day i will share with you my one-a-day, i’m excited. see you tonight <3
