as you know, i was @ DUMBO’s pop-up flea yesterday.   what you i didn’t realize, was that the red hook food vendors would be inside all day long! chicken pupusa, cabbage, sour cream, tomato sauce, peppers, rice, plantains = $3 !  the young designer’s market in SoHo could stand to learn from this genius business plan.  [additionally there are delicious bakers: pastry virtuosos + i scored a complimentary pain o lait by day’s end – it’s the little things, really]

i was fortunate to be situated next to nightwood.  founders myriah scruggs + nadia yaron are super kind and wonderfully creative – i was inspired by all of their work – especially the presto-change-o-bench (cheesy descriptive name my fault)

they are masters of upcycling, using found wood and recycled as well as sustainable materials to construct amazing, awesome and clever pieces.  same bench as above:

they accept custom requests with quick turnaround and reasonable prices for one of a kind pieces.  myriah is the wood master & nadia works malleable materials (reupholsters furniture, embroiders pillows) but my favorite is when they combine efforts: nadia paints geometric chevron patterns on myriah’s credenzas [sadly no photo reference, you’ll have to come to DUMBO + see it in person]
