had the pleasure of drudging around the javits center yesterday. vendors told me it was *small* compared to years past – alls i know is bones were aching. 4 hours of snaking past and into booths – here are two of my top pics
yellow owl workshop : based out of frisco, their booth had a science fair project feel. neon letters on white foamcore – it drew me straight in. husband+wife split up responsibility+art <respectively>. with product ranging from hand painted wood art to digital diy wrapping paper, my heart leaped when it saw the creative stamp sets – inspiring inner Figments
find yellow owl workshop near you.
next on my lovey dovey list – across the great divide + local! brooklyn’s own enormous champion. another hub/wifey duo -and like yellow owl workshop- entirely eco-friendly <recycled papers, soy inks, biodegradable plastics, etc> enormous champion had wonderful wooden animals in addition to their lovely stationery line. of the cards, i particularly liked the fantastic tactile embossed elements <hard to tell by photo, happy birthday is puffy>
and call me stalker, who doesn’t like gawking into the lives of creatives they admire? a photoset of their home/office is on flickr.
other trends at the fair included: letters <as in the alphabet>, book plates, and calendars. letterpress continues to be strong & emphasis really lies in handmade, eco-friendly + simple design.
round 2 to follow . . .
